Woodland and Hoffman birdied the final three holes to match the teams of Emiliano Grillo-Graeme McDowell and Brian Harman-Patton Kizzire at 19-under 125, with a better-ball round left at Tiburon Golf Club.
Grillo-McDowell and Harman-Kizzire, tied for lead with Bryson DeChambeau and Kevin Na at 59 after the first-round scramble, each shot 66. Na and DeChambeau were a stroke back after a 67.
The teams of Bryson DeChambeau-Kevin Na, Brian Harman-Patton Kizzire and Emiliano Grillo-Graeme McDowell shot 13-under 59 in scramble play Friday to share the first-round lead in the QBE Shootout.
Harman-Kizzire and Grillo-McDowell birdied the final three holes at Tiburón Golf Club, and DeChambeau and Na eagled the par-5 14th. LPGA Tour player Lexi Thompson and Tony Finau were two strokes back at 61 with Charley Hoffman-Gary Woodland and Charles Howell III-Luke List. Defending champions Steve Stricker and Sean' O'Hair shot 62.
For the 18th consecutive year, the QBE Shootout comes to Tiburón Golf Club at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort, Naples and 24 individuals will compete as 12 two-person teams. The event is celebrating its 30th year on the PGA TOUR calendar.
The tournament is the longest running PGA TOUR-sanctioned post-season event.

Davis Love III has withdrawn from this week’s QBE Shootout and will be replaced by Brian Harman, who will be paired with Patton Kizzire.
Love’s mother has been in the critical care unit at the Brunswick, GA hospital the last week and is currently in stable condition.
This will be Harman’s second appearance in the QBE Shootout. Last year, he and Pat Perez finished third.
The list of celebrities participating in the QBE Shootout Pro-Am competition has grown this year and includes country music stars Darius Rucker and Charles Kelley as well as sports announcer Chris Berman and Fox News Channel’s Bret Baier.
These four, along with an incredible lineup of professionals including Tournament Host Greg Norman, will join other amateurs and compete in the two-day competition Wednesday and Thursday as the opening act for next week’s QBE Shootout at Tiburón Golf Club at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort, Naples.
