Sean O’Hair and Steve Stricker, who led after 18 holes with a 15-under 57 and shared the 36-hole lead at 18-under 126, posted an 8-under 64 to claim a two-stroke victory in the QBE Shootout at 26-under 190.
Stricker’s 10-foot putt for birdie at No. 9, the team’s third-straight birdie, tied team McDowell/Lowry for the lead at 22-under-par. On the inward nine, the duo made additional birdies at Nos. 11, 14 and the eagle-three at No. 17.
The only internationals in this year’s QBE Shootout field, Graeme McDowell and Shane Lowry (Northern Ireland and Ireland, respectively) used an eagle-birdie start at Nos 1 and 2 to fashion an 8-under 64. In addition to an eagle-three at the first hole, the duo claimed birdies at Nos. 2, 7, 8, 10, 13 and 15.
The lowest score in Modified Alternate Shot belongs to the 1990 team of Fred Couples and Raymond Floyd (57).

O’Hair is making his seventh appearance in the QBE Shootout, having won with Kenny Perry in 2012. Stricker is playing for a 10th consecutive time and was a part of the 2009 winning team with Jerry Kelly. Stricker and Kelly finished second in last year’s QBE Shootout.
For the 17th consecutive year, the QBE Shootout comes to Tiburón Golf Club at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort, Naples and 24 individuals will compete as 12 two-person teams. The event is celebrating its 29th year on the PGA TOUR calendar. The tournament is the longest running PGA TOUR-sanctioned post-season event. NAPLES, Fla. (May 16, 2017) – The QBE Shootout recently announced a purse increase, broadcast details and changes to field qualifying criteria for the 2017 event scheduled for December 6-10 at the Tiburón Golf Club at The Ritz-Carlton Resort, Naples.
QBE’s partnership will allow the Shootout to increase the tournament purse by $400,000 over the next three years. The 2016 purse was $3.1 million and will increase to $3.3 million this year, followed by a purse of $3.4 million in 2018 and in 2019 the 24-player field will compete for $3.5 million.
