Rory Sabbatini/Kevin Tway (1st/-31)
  • In the Four-Ball format, the first-time team offset one bogey with 11 birdies and an eagle to post a 12-under 60 and claim a two-stroke win over first-time players Jason Kokrak and J.T. Poston. The 60 tied the day’s low score with Matthew Wolff and Viktor Hovland
  • The largest margin of victory at the QBE Shootout is seven strokes (Matt Kuchar/Harris English, 2013)
  • While Tway was making his first QBE Shootout appearance, Sabbatini was making his 10th, the most of any player in this week’s field outside of Charles Howell III, who was making his 11th start.
  • Prior to this week, Sabbatini’s best were a pair of runner-up finishes (2011, with Jhonattan Vegas and 2012, with Howell III)
  • A total of 13 players have now been a part of a winning team in their first QBE Shootout, including Patton Kizzire last year (with Brian Harman)
  • The second-round lead/co-lead at the QBE Shootout has now held up 19 of 31 times and includes last year’s winning team of Patton Kizzire and Brian Harman
  • In the 2018-19 PGA TOUR Season, Sabbatini amassed six top-10 finishes, his most for a season since 2007. Tway collected his first career PGA TOUR title at last season’s Safeway Open
Jason Kokrak/J.T. Poston (2nd/-29)
  • QBE Shootout rookies combined for seven birdies on their first eight holes en route to a 10-under 62
  • With a win, Kokrak and Poston would have become just the second team comprised of first-time players to win the QBE Shootout (Keegan Bradley and Brendan Steele in 2011)
  • Kokrak and Poston were two of nine players making their QBE Shootout debut this week. The others: Corey Conners, Viktor Hovland, Chez Reavie, Andrew Putnam, Kevin Tway, Brendon Todd and Matthew Wolff
Miscellaneous Notes
  • Chez Reavie (paired with Kevin Chappell) aced the eighth hole in round three with a 9-iron from 148 yards
  • Defending champions Brian Harman/Patton Kizzire combined for a 10-under 62 to finish at 20-under 196
  • Lexi Thompson/Sean O’Hair finished 12th at 8-under 208. Thompson, who was making her fifth start in the QBE Shootout, is the second woman to compete in the event (Annika Sorenstam/Fred Couples/2006)
  • As part its commitment to giving back, QBE donated $5,000 for every birdie (9) and $10,000 for every eagle (2) made in round three on Hole #17 to the Wounded Warrior program. This total was $65,000.
  • Founded by World Golf Hall of Fame Member Greg Norman in 1989, this week’s QBE Shootout marked the 31st edition of the event. Tiburon Golf Club at The Ritz-Carlton Resort in Naples, Fla. is hosting for a 19th consecutive year
