NAPLES, FL. (October 29, 2019) – Tournament host Greg Norman announced today that QBE North America has extended its title sponsorship through 2022. An integrated specialist insurer, QBE has been the title sponsor since 2017 and the event has seen significant growth during such time. In addition, the QBE Shootout has renewed agreements with both Tiburón Golf Club and The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort for the next three years.
Tournament officials also announced today 14 players currently committed to compete in the 2019 Shootout. This year’s tournament will be held December 11 – 15 as the PGA TOUR returns to Tiburón Golf Club at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort for the 19th year.
This year’s field currently features six (6) players who won during the last PGA TOUR season and Lexi Thompson, the highest ranked American player on the LPGA, who will compete for the fourth consecutive year.
One of those PGA TOUR winners is Matthew Wolff, the 2019 NCAA champion who won the 3M Open in only his third start as a professional. Also winning during the 2018-2019 season were Chez Reavie (Travelers Championship), Charles Howell III (RSM Classic), J.T. Poston (Wyndham Championship), Graeme McDowell (Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship) and Kevin Tway (Safeway Open).
In addition, defending champions Brian Harman and Patton Kizzire will return along with past QBE Shootout champion Brandt Snedeker.
Seven players will compete for the first time in the $3.5 million event and include another rookie sensation Viktor Hovland, who was low amateur at both the Masters Tournament and U.S. Open. He turned professional after the U.S. Open and his PGA TOUR record of 19 straight rounds in the 60s ended two weeks ago in Korea. Also, here for the first time are Andrew Putnam, Jason Kokrak, Tway, Reavie, Poston and Wolff.
Billy Horschel will be making his seventh consecutive appearance at the QBE Shootout and is one of seven returning players currently in the field. This group includes Snedeker, Howell III, Harmon, Kizzire, McDowell and Thompson. These returnees have a combined 36 career victories.
“Since 2017, QBE has been an incredible title sponsor of the Shootout, bringing a level of excitement and energy to the tournament that has truly taken it to new heights. The extension of their sponsorship through 2022 is extraordinary for the tournament, golfers and fans and I couldn’t be more excited about our continued partnership,” said Tournament Host, Greg Norman. “QBE’s commitment for the next three years ensures we will be able to attract a world class field, enhance the sponsor and spectator experience and most importantly, grow our charitable giving.”
Friday’s first round will be broadcast live by Golf Channel from 12:00-2:00 p.m. and on Golf Channel Digital from 2:00-4:00 p.m. On the weekend, the final two rounds will be live on Golf Channel from 12:00-4:00 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday.
“Few events capture the spirit of sportsmanship, giving back and entertainment like the QBE Shootout and we’re proud to continue to sponsor this memorable golf event," said Todd Jones, Chief Executive Officer of QBE North America. “QBE is committed to taking care of people and providing the necessary support to foster more resilient and sustainable communities. The money raised from the tournament does just that. On behalf of QBE employees, we thank all of the fans and golfers for their participation and hope you enjoy the event again this year!”
The ten players to complete the 24-player field and the 12 two-person teams will be finalized in early November.
The QBE Shootout has experienced significant growth since QBE’s support in 2017.
Jones continued, “The ongoing commitment to continually enhance the tournament is one of the many reasons we are proud to extend our partnership. The addition of Live Fest this year is a great example of that.”
Live Fest, a premier music event, will take place on Saturday, December 14th and will be headlined by Grammy award-winning acts Lady Antebellum and Darius Rucker. They will be joined by Jordan Davis, Billboard’s Top New Country Artist of 2018, as well as the popular local Ben Allen Band. The concert, to be staged outdoors on the spacious driving range at Tiburón Golf Club at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort, Naples, will start following the second round of the QBE Shootout at 4:00 p.m. and conclude at 10:00 p.m.
The QBE Shootout fan experience includes the Roofclaim.com Spectator Bridge connecting the 1st hole and 9th hole at Tiburón Golf Club.
